Description:
The Aboriginal Community Safety Planning Initiative (ACSPI) works to prevent incidents of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG), provides a means to enhance accessibility to Restorative Justice programming and responds to the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).

Support for Indigenous community-led planning and implementation of solutions
The ACSPI supports Indigenous communities in the development of Community Safety Plans (CSPs) which are specific to their unique circumstances. These plans identify community strengths, assets and safety and wellness goals in order for all community members to see themselves involved on a path leading toward a healthier, safer home and community life.

In this uniquely grass-roots approach, Public Safety Canada officials work with communities and continue to support them through the many stages of CSP engagement, development and implementation. However, before the process starts, it is important that the community leaders fully support the concept and demonstrate commitment. Public Safety Canada officials provide information and are available to answer questions but will not actually start the process without having been invited, and having received written endorsement from the community leadership first.

Description:
Funded by Women and Gender Equity Canada and delivered by Fierté Canada Pride, the Community Safety Fund is a direct result of member-informed advocacy for 2SLGBTQIA+ needs. FCP has secured a $1.5 million to redistribute funds to Pride and 2SLGBTQIA+ organizers addressing growing safety concerns in an environment of rising anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate.

We anticipate funding to be distributed as follows:

Large festivals (budgets over $2 million): a total pool of $750,000. We anticipate funding of $200,000 - $300,000 per organisation.

Medium sized festivals (budgets over $500,000): a total pool of $200,000. We anticipate funding of between $10,000 and $25,000 per organisation.

Small festivals and events (budgets under $500,000): a total pool of $400,000. We anticipate funding of $2,500 to $10,000 per organization

Description:
Community services, such as policing, are an important part of supporting community safety and well-being. However, to proactively support community protection and well-being, a holistic approach must also include complementary, Indigenous-led initiatives which offer a broad spectrum of community support.

The Pathways to Safe Indigenous Communities Initiative will provide $103.8 million over 5 years to assist First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and partners, both on and off-reserve, to implement Indigenous-designed projects to improve community safety and well-being.

This initiative will support projects which:

recognize the importance of traditional knowledge and practices to contributing to greater community safety and well-being
recognize holistic models of community safety and well-being
address existing and emerging needs relating to the safety and well-being of Indigenous women and girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people
The Pathways to Safe Indigenous Communities Initiative will not support enforcement activities or fund policing bodies or organizations.

You can find a list of eligible activities and the terms and conditions of the initiative at:
